Ian McShane (born September 29, 1942) is an acclaimed English actor known for his distinctive voice and memorable performances across film, television, and theater. Born in Blackburn, Lancashire, England, he studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA), where he trained alongside actors including Anthony Hopkins and John Hurt.
McShane gained widespread recognition as the charming antiques dealer Lovejoy in the BBC series Lovejoy. He later delivered his award-winning performance as Al Swearengen in HBO’s Deadwood, winning a Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Television Drama. His other notable roles include Mr. Wednesday in American Gods, Blackbeard in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, and Winston Scott in the John Wick franchise.
