Charles Nelson Reilly (January 13, 1931 – May 25, 2007) was an American actor, comedian, director, and game show panelist known for his sharp wit, distinctive personality, and memorable presence on television. Born in The Bronx, New York, Reilly displayed an early passion for theater, studying acting at the prestigious HB Studio in New York City.
He made his Broadway debut in Bye Bye Birdie (1960) and earned a Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Musical for his role in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying (1962). Reilly also received Tony nominations for his performances in Hello, Dolly! and The Dealer’s Choice.
Despite his success on stage, Reilly became a household name through television.
