Katie Couric is an American journalist, author, and media personality, born on January 7, 1957, in Arlington, Virginia. She began her journalism career as an assignment editor for CNN and later became a reporter for WTVJ in Miami. Couric joined NBC News in 1989 as a national political correspondent and later co-hosted the “Today” show from 1991 to 2006, becoming the first solo female anchor of a weekday network evening news broadcast in 2006, on CBS Evening News.

Throughout her career, Couric has also hosted and contributed to a number of television programs and documentaries, including “Katie” on ABC, “CBS This Morning,” and “60 Minutes.” She has received numerous awards for her journalism, including multiple Emmys and a Peabody Award.

In addition to her work in journalism, Couric is also an advocate for cancer awareness and research, co-founding Stand Up to Cancer in 2008. She has also written several books, including “The Best Advice I Ever Got: Lessons from Extraordinary Lives” and “The Blue Ribbon Day.”
