Peggy Lipton (1946–2019) was an American actress, model, and singer best known for her memorable work in television and film. Born on August 30, 1946, in New York City, she began her career as a model before moving into acting.
Lipton gained widespread recognition for her role as Julie Barnes in the popular television series The Mod Squad (1968–1973), earning a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Television Series – Drama in 1971. She later experienced a career resurgence as Norma Jennings in David Lynch’s acclaimed mystery series Twin Peaks (1990–1991, 2017).
Lipton also appeared in films and television programs including The Postman, Alias, and Popular. Outside acting, she was known for her marriage to music producer Quincy Jones, with whom she had two daughters, Rashida and Kidada Jones. Peggy Lipton died on May 11, 2019, at the age of 72.
