Steven Frederic Seagal, born April 10, 1952, in Lansing, Michigan, is an American actor, martial artist, and musician. He began his martial arts journey under Fumio Demura and later moved to Japan at 17 to teach English and study Zen, earning black belts in aikido, karate, judo, and kendo.
Seagal became the first American to operate an aikido dojo in Japan. Transitioning to Hollywood, he made his acting debut in “Above the Law” (1988) and gained fame with “Under Siege” (1992).
