Standing at 7 feet 2 inches tall, Abdul-Jabbar dominated the game with his unique combination of size, skill, and athleticism.

He first gained national attention in high school, where he led Power Memorial Academy to three straight New York City Catholic championships. He then played college basketball at UCLA under legendary coach John Wooden, where he won three consecutive NCAA championships from 1967 to 1969.

In 1969, Abdul-Jabbar was drafted first overall by the Milwaukee Bucks in the NBA draft. During his 20-year NBA career, he played for the Bucks and later the Los Angeles Lakers, winning a total of six NBA championships and earning six regular-season MVP awards. He retired in 1989 as the NBA’s all-time leading scorer with 38,387 points, a record that still stands today.
