Matt Reeves (born April 27, 1966) is an American filmmaker known for his work as a director, writer, and producer. He was born in Rockville Centre, New York, and raised in Los Angeles, where he developed an early interest in filmmaking. Reeves began his career working in television, co-creating the drama series Felicity with J. J. Abrams.
He gained wider recognition with the 2008 found-footage monster film Cloverfield, which became a commercial and critical success. Reeves further established himself with Let Me In (2010), a remake of the Swedish horror film Let the Right One In. His reputation grew significantly after directing Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014) and War for the Planet of the Apes (2017), both praised for their emotional depth and visual storytelling.
