Sam Heughan is a Scottish actor, producer, and author best known for his portrayal of Jamie Fraser in the historical drama TV series Outlander. He was born on April 30, 1980, in Balmaclellan, Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland, and raised in nearby New Galloway. Heughan developed an interest in acting at a young age and later trained at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama (now the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland).
