Anthony Perkins was an American actor and singer born on April 4, 1932, in New York City. He began his acting career in the early 1950s and quickly gained critical acclaim for his performances on stage and screen.
Perkins is perhaps best known for his role as Norman Bates in Alfred Hitchcock’s classic 1960 film “Psycho,” a role that earned him an Academy Award nomination. He went on to reprise the role in three sequels.
In addition to his work in film, Perkins was also a talented stage actor, appearing in numerous productions on and off Broadway. He also released several albums as a singer and had a successful career as a writer and director.
Perkins died on September 12, 1992, from complications related to AIDS. He was 60 years old.
