Ed Reed is a former American football player widely regarded as one of the greatest safeties in NFL history. Born on September 11, 1978, in St. Rose, Louisiana, Reed excelled in football from a young age and played college football at the University of Miami. While at Miami, Reed became a standout player, earning All-American honors and helping the Hurricanes win the 2001 national championship.
Reed was drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in the first round of the 2002 NFL Draft. Over his 11 seasons with the Ravens, he became known for his incredible playmaking ability, instinct, and ball-hawking skills. He led the NFL in interceptions three times and was named to the Pro Bowl nine times. In 2012, Reed helped lead the Ravens to a Super Bowl victory.
Throughout his career, Reed recorded 64 interceptions, which ranks among the most in NFL history. After brief stints with the Houston Texans and New York Jets, Reed retired in 2015. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2019.
