Hugo Weaving is an Australian actor best known for his versatile performances in both film and theater. He was born on April 4, 1960, in Nigeria to English parents who worked as medical practitioners.
Weaving grew up in Australia and studied at the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) in Sydney, where he graduated in 1981. He began his acting career in Australian television and theater, gaining critical acclaim for his performances in productions such as “The Three Sisters” and “Nicholas Nickleby”.
Weaving’s breakthrough role came in the 1994 film “The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert”, where he played the character of transgender woman Mitzi.
