Charles Woodson is a former American professional football player, born on October 7, 1976, in Fremont, Ohio. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest defensive backs in NFL history. Woodson starred at the University of Michigan, where he won the 1997 Heisman Trophy—the only primarily defensive player ever to do so.
He was selected fourth overall by the Oakland Raiders in the 1998 NFL Draft and quickly became a standout cornerback, winning NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year.
