Darryl Strawberry is a former American professional baseball right fielder who became one of the most powerful hitters of his era in Major League Baseball. He was born on March 12, 1962, in Los Angeles. Strawberry rose to prominence after being selected first overall in the 1980 MLB Draft by the New York Mets.
He made his MLB debut in 1983 and quickly became a star, winning the National League Rookie of the Year Award that same year. Known for his powerful swing and athletic ability, Strawberry helped the Mets win the 1986 World Series. During his career, he was selected to eight All-Star Games and also played for teams such as the Los Angeles Dodgers, San Francisco Giants, and New York Yankees, winning three more World Series titles with the Yankees.
