Fred Dalton Thompson (1942–2015) was an American politician, actor, attorney, and lobbyist. Born in Sheffield, Alabama, Thompson earned his law degree from Vanderbilt University and began his career as an attorney.
He gained national attention in the 1970s as the Republican counsel for the Senate Watergate Committee, playing a key role in the investigation that led to President Nixon’s resignation.
