Hakeem Olajuwon is a retired Nigerian-American professional basketball player, widely regarded as one of the greatest centers in NBA history. Born on January 21, 1963, in Lagos, Nigeria, he moved to the United States to attend the University of Houston, where he led the Cougars to three NCAA Final Four appearances.

Selected first overall by the Houston Rockets in the 1984 NBA Draft, Olajuwon built a legendary career defined by footwork, agility, and defensive dominance. Nicknamed “The Dream,” he guided the Rockets to back-to-back NBA championships in 1994 and 1995, earning Finals MVP honors both times.
