Jerry Orbach was an American actor and singer, born on October 20, 1935, in The Bronx, New York City. He began his career on Broadway, becoming a celebrated musical theater star with standout performances in The Fantasticks, Promises, Promises, and Chicago.

His rich baritone voice and charismatic presence made him a beloved stage performer, earning him a Tony Award in 1969. Orbach also enjoyed a successful film and television career. He appeared in movies like Dirty Dancing (1987) and voiced Lumière in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast (1991).
