Kareem Abdul Jabbar

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (born Ferdinand Lewis Alcindor Jr. on April 16, 1947) is a retired American professional basketball player who is widely regarded as one of the greatest players in the history of the sport. He played 20 seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA), mostly for the Milwaukee Bucks and Los Angeles Lakers.

Abdul-Jabbar grew up in New York City and attended Power Memorial Academy, where he became a dominant high school basketball player. He then played college basketball at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) under legendary coach John Wooden, winning three consecutive NCAA championships and earning numerous individual honors.

After being drafted first overall by the Milwaukee Bucks in 1969, Abdul-Jabbar quickly established himself as one of the best players in the NBA. He won six NBA championships (five with the Lakers, one with the Bucks) and six Most Valuable Player (MVP) awards during his career, which ended in 1989.

Abdul-Jabbar is the NBA’s all-time leading scorer with 38,387 points, and he was named to the All-NBA team 15 times and the All-Star team 19 times. He is also known for his philanthropic work, writing, and activism, including his advocacy for social justice and racial equality.
