Kenny Rogers (August 21, 1938 – March 20, 2020) was an American singer, songwriter, actor, record producer, and entrepreneur. He was born in Houston, Texas, and began his music career in the late 1950s, playing with various bands before going solo in the mid-1970s.
Rogers is best known for his country and pop hits, including “The Gambler,” “Lucille,” “Lady,” and “Islands in the Stream,” which he recorded with Dolly Parton.
