Kenny Rogers (August 21, 1938 – March 20, 2020) was an American singer, songwriter, actor, record producer, and entrepreneur. He was born in Houston, Texas, and began his music career in the late 1950s, playing with various bands before going solo in the mid-1970s.

Rogers is best known for his country and pop hits, including “The Gambler,” “Lucille,” “Lady,” and “Islands in the Stream,” which he recorded with Dolly Parton. He had numerous chart-topping singles and albums and won many awards, including three Grammy Awards, six Country Music Association Awards, and the CMT Artist of a Lifetime Award.

In addition to his music career, Rogers also acted in several movies and television shows, including “The Gambler” movie series based on his hit song. He was also an entrepreneur, starting his own chain of fast-food restaurants called Kenny Rogers Roasters.

Rogers passed away in March 2020 at the age of 81, leaving behind a legacy as one of the most successful and beloved country music artists of all time.
