Melissa Fumero (born August 19, 1982) is an American actress and director best known for her role as Detective Amy Santiago on the hit comedy series Brooklyn Nine-Nine (2013–2021).
Born in Lyndhurst, New Jersey, to Cuban immigrant parents, she developed a love for performing at a young age and pursued drama at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts in drama.
Fumero began her career on television with a recurring role as Adriana Cramer on the long-running soap opera One Life to Live (2004–2011). Her breakout came with Brooklyn Nine-Nine, where her sharp comedic timing and on-screen chemistry with Andy Samberg won her critical praise and a devoted fan base.
