Nelson Rockefeller

Nelson Rockefeller (1908-1979) was an American businessman, philanthropist, and politician who served as the 41st Vice President of the United States from 1974 to 1977 under President Gerald Ford. 

Rockefeller was born into one of the wealthiest families in America in Bar Harbor, Maine, and went on to attend Dartmouth College, graduating in 1930. He then pursued a successful career in business, including serving as president and later chairman of Rockefeller Center, Inc. 

In addition to his business interests, Rockefeller was also heavily involved in politics. He served as the governor of New York for four terms from 1959 to 1973, during which time he implemented a number of significant social and economic policies. 

Throughout his life, Rockefeller was known for his philanthropy, donating large sums of money to a wide variety of causes, including art, education, and medicine. He established the Rockefeller Brothers Fund in 1940, which continues to provide grants for a range of environmental and social initiatives. 

Rockefeller died of a heart attack in 1979 at the age of 70.
