Sasha Alexander, born Suzana Drobnjaković on May 17, 1973, in Los Angeles, California, is an American actress and director of Serbian and Italian descent. She began acting in school productions during seventh grade and continued through high school and college.
After studying directing at the University of Southern California’s School of Cinema-Television, she pursued acting professionally. Alexander gained early recognition as Gretchen Witter on Dawson’s Creek and later starred as Special Agent Caitlin Todd in the first two seasons of NCIS (2003–2005).
Her most prominent role came as Dr. Maura Isles in TNT’s Rizzoli & Isles (2010–2016), earning her a People’s Choice Award for Favorite Cable TV Actress in 2016. She has also appeared in films like Yes Man (2008) and He’s Just Not That Into You (2009). In her personal life, Alexander married director Edoardo Ponti, son of Sophia Loren and Carlo Ponti, in 2007. The couple has two children and resides in Los Angeles.
