Shinzo Abe (1954–2022) was a Japanese politician who served as Prime Minister of Japan twice, from 2006 to 2007 and from 2012 to 2020. He was Japan’s longest-serving Prime Minister, known for his economic policies, dubbed “Abenomics,”

which aimed to revive the country’s stagnant economy through monetary easing, fiscal stimulus, and structural reforms. Born into a prominent political family, Abe was the grandson of former Prime Minister Nobusuke Kishi and the son of Shintaro Abe, a former foreign minister.

Abe was also known for his efforts to strengthen Japan’s national security by pushing for constitutional reforms to expand the role of Japan’s Self-Defense Forces. His foreign policy focused on strengthening ties with the United States and other democratic nations in Asia.

Abe resigned in 2020 due to health issues. Tragically, he was assassinated in July 2022, an event that shocked the world.
