Joe Montana, born on June 11, 1956, in New Eagle, Pennsylvania, is a retired American football quarterback widely regarded as one of the greatest to ever play the game. Montana played college football at the University of Notre Dame, where he led the Fighting Irish to a national championship in 1977.
In 1979, Montana was drafted in the third round by the San Francisco 49ers. Known for his cool demeanor under pressure, he earned the nickname “Joe Cool.” Over his 16-season career, Montana won four Super Bowl titles (XVI, XIX, XXIII, and XXIV) with the 49ers, earning Super Bowl MVP honors three times.
