John C. McGinley is an American actor, producer, and writer, best known for his portrayal of Dr. Perry Cox on the long-running TV series “Scrubs.” Born on August 3, 1959, in New York City, McGinley grew up in Millburn, New Jersey. He studied acting at Syracuse University before attending New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, where he honed his craft under the guidance of renowned acting coach Stella Adler.
McGinley’s breakout role came in Oliver Stone’s 1986 film “Platoon,” where he played Sergeant O’Neill.
