Khalid is an American singer and songwriter who rose to fame with his debut single “Location,” which peaked at No. 16 on the “US Billboard Hot 100” chart. His debut studio album, “American Teen,” which was consciously named such to combat stereotypical views of “proper Americans,” was equally successful and reached No. 4 on the “US Billboard 200” albums chart. Raised by a single mother who worked in the military, he moved from one place to another and often painted painful pictures of teenage loneliness, as well as of love, through his songs.
