Kyle Chandler is an American actor best known for his role as Coach Eric Taylor on the critically acclaimed television series Friday Night Lights (2006–2011), for which he won a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series. Born on September 17, 1965, in Buffalo, New York, Chandler grew up in Georgia and later attended the University of Georgia, where he majored in drama.
Chandler’s early career began in television, with roles in series like Homefront (1991–1993) and Early Edition (1996–2000), where he played a man who receives tomorrow’s newspaper today, giving him the chance to prevent disasters.
