Matthew Daddario is an American actor best known for his role as Alec Lightwood in the popular fantasy TV series Shadowhunters (2016–2019), based on The Mortal Instruments book series. Born on October 1, 1987, in New York City, Matthew is the younger brother of actress Alexandra Daddario. He developed an early interest in acting but pursued his studies, earning a degree in business from Indiana University Bloomington before entering the entertainment industry.
Daddario made his film debut in The Debut (2012) and gained attention for his role in the romantic comedy Delivery Man (2013), where he starred alongside Vince Vaughn. His breakthrough came with Shadowhunters, where his portrayal of Alec, a stoic and heroic character struggling with his sexuality, earned him a devoted fan base.
