This radio station is Australia’s first ever multi-language commercial broadcaster. Here broadcasts an Arabic language service to Sydney and Melbourne at 1638 AM and nationally via satellite. This station become launches a new afternoon timeslot for Australia’s large Arabic speaking community.

History

2ME is Australia’s first 24-hour commercially owned Arabic-language radio station. Transmission began in Sydney in 1996 and in Melbourne in 1998. The company also supplies Arabic programming for the in-flight entertainment service on Royal Brunei Airlines and Gulf Air.

Programming

Radio 2ME plays Top 40 music favorites, as well as Classic, Hits from the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and today as well as providing a mix of local news and BBC World News.

The station features Arabic and English language music following both a Classic Hits and Top 40 format. 2ME broadcasts local and national news along with BBC World News on the hour. The programming day is broken into traditional shifts with an emphasis on talkback and listener participation during the day. Evening programs concentrate on music and live concerts.

Miray has worked in Lebanon and in the Middle East on a radio; she has also worked as an MC for many famous superstars touring Australia and also in Lebanon including Najwa Karam. Miray has a degree in Arabic Literature.

Magdy

Magdy has been involved with 2ME since its very beginnings and works in Sales specializing in servicing and obtaining client results.

Micheline

Micheline has been a Senior Sales Executive at 2ME since the early years of the station. She has been awarded the 2ME Highest Achiever Award.

Hany

Hany has been Senior Sales executive at 2ME for 10 years. Prior to joining 2ME, he worked in Egypt as an MC while completing his Bachelor of Commerce degree.

Claude

Claude has been employed by 2ME for a number of years now and hosts the breakfast program and the ever-popular Top 30 Countdown. Previously she worked for 3 years in the Media industry in Lebanon as was also a sports teacher.
